Woman from the merchant bourgeoisie, ca. 12th century

The dress dates back to the 12th century or thereabouts. It is a simple frock, the bottom of which is decorated in Byzantine fashion (see photo left).

The woman wears quality jewellery. Her necklace comes from Scandinavia and is made of amber.

Her headdress is in keeping with the merchant class.
