Motorcyclist, Regiments of Chasseurs ardennais, 1940

This uniform was worn by the motorised units crews (motorbikes, sidecars) with the Regiments of Chasseurs ardennais in 1940. These units, created on 10 March 1933, comprised two heavily mechanised and well-armed divisions. They carried out a major delaying action in May 1940.
The man wears the leather jacket designed for mechanised units and the typical motorcyclist’s cork helmet.
You can see a holster for an FN12 revolver (photo left). The motorcyclist had a light kit, helmet and canteen.
